Lets Get LOUD

Pennsylvania Governor Tom Corbett should do everything in his power to avoid Pennsylvania schools, as it is highly unlikely that anyone will be asking for his autograph! On March 8th, Corbett introduced a budget plan that “would attempt to address a projected $4 billion recession-driven deficit without raising taxes and would demand such large cuts from public schools and universities that few, if any, legislators have embraced it.” If NOBODY has embraced the idea, why is the agenda still being pushed? Furthermore, this budget cut has serious ramifications for Pennsylvania schools; it would cut $1.6 million from schools and universities. That includes the 14 universities that make up the State System of Higher Education AS WELL AS Penn State, Pitt, Temple, and Lincoln!
The good news –if one was forced to be optimistic and think of something good that has come out of this disastrous idea- is that students are not taking the proposed budget cuts lightly. In fact, students, grandparents, mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers, and strangers have been continuously gathering in the Capitol Rotunda to express their dismay over Governor Corbett’s extreme education budget cuts. In fact, the protests have been incredibly loud and passionate. It is nice to see citizens taking action and advocating for the fundamental human right that is education…. lets just hope it works. FYI to Governor Corbett: if you want to get re-elected you may want to scratch your brilliant proposal…and quickly!
